She's hit or miss because you're letting her be.... you need to give her guidance!!! |

Just advice so don't bite my head off ok? Ok do you want MIlly to learn its ok to go in the house? Because from what you're saying in this post you're teaching her yes go on the pads its a good thing. While its good she is going on the pads its also better for her to learn to go outside. How often do you let her out honey? I would let her out every 15-20 mins, and after every meal, and after she wakes up from a sleep. And do praise her everytime she does her business outside ok?

Re: pooooooo !!
I got Pippa at 8 wks and from day 1 I've taken her out after she wakes up, after food, after playtimes, after training session etc and also last thing at night before I go to bed even if I've had to wake her up to do it - she has never messed in her crate or her bed once in the time I've had her and she is just over 4 months old now. I've also never had to get up in the night, she has slept through since day 1.
I'd get rid of the pads and paper - it's just a stop gap and she will still need to be taught to go outside anyway so double the training imo. I was lucky with Pippa but if you start as you mean to go on with Milly she will get the hang of it soon. Don't scold her when she does it inside, just quietly clean up preferably when she is out of the way.

Re: pooooooo !!
To be honest I don't like puppy pads as they teach the dog it's OK to go in the house which can make it difficult to get them to go in the garden.
I would advise getting rid of the pads and working on getting her to go outside instead. Take her out after every feed, sleep and play and every 20-30 mins. Stand with her without playing until she has been to the toilet then praise her and play. My pup is 14.5 weeks and he still wont toilet if he thinks there's something more exciting going on so I just have to be really boring until he's been then he gets to play as a reward. At 8 weeks I was also having to get up every few hours in the night to let him out. If you remove the option of an inside toilet she will soon learn how to let you know she wants to go out. |

You have to be teaching her this, you can't expect her to think in a few months down the line that she has to go outside to do her business - she has to be taught. OK? Just stay outside with her till she goes and praise her when she does. OK? Is Milly your first dog?

![]() why tell the puppy off when they have no idea what they have done wrong? unless you catch them in the acted thier is no point. You wouldnt shout at a newly potty training child would you? No because they are learning some thing new you cant tell them off when they have NO control over it the puppy is 8 weeks old Zeb was the same he'd stand in it then walk around it is annoying and frustrating, and sometimes i'd leave the room to think about it for a minute then go back and sort him out. I used to think what the hell have we done i cant put up with poo everywhere But they do learn lol
