What sort of bedding have you down for her? Has your son an old teddy or some sort of soft toy that she can cuddle up to. A ticking clock placed near to her bed or leave the radio on very low sometimes helps.

I always bring pups upstairs not specifically into the bedroom but where they can see and hear us - they have their own area like a child's play pen or a dog crate. Nice soft bedding like vetbed which is warm and cosy and if they "wee" it goes straight through so they dont get wet themselves.

Could the scratching at the door at night possibly be because she wants to go out to "relieve" herself?

No dont think the scratching is that, she isnt house trained yet she wees on the pads we got her so trained for that so far, she is only 8 weeks old, thanks for the advice tho i leave a light on already but lastnight i put a radio on for her and that helped a bit shes just missing mum really shes going for her jabs today poor thing so will need lots of cuddles tonight.
