Re: dogs names

I try to think of a theme

Books/Films eg Lassie
Greek Gods eg Zeus
Music eg Lieberstraum (Leiba)
Flowers (possibly more appropriate for cats, not sure)
Weather (possibly more appropriate for horses, not sure)
Various colours in different languages

I am trying to think of the Swahili for warrior which is what I really want to call our new kitten, I have four weeks to find out otherwise I will have to concede to Sooty not much difference but no doubt easier for our grandson to say.

Sue

Re: dogs names

My dog already had a name as we got her 'second' hand at 12 weeks. If I had changed her name I would have called her snowball as it was winter when we got her and she was a little white ball - but when she grew she got beige patches on her face, ears and back so good job I kept her name really. I also didnt want to confuse her as she was already used to her name and I thought that the change of home was quite enough. I must say though that most men do not like to call Tootsie to a pomeranian - cant think why they have a problem with it really

Re: dogs names

hi

we tend to choose hemes to - like our cats - all alcoholic drinks ( i must add we dont actually drink that much - just loved the names and they stuck!!!!) having said this our dogs are storm and lightning - this wasnt a chosen theme, the gsd - my oh's always wanted to call her gsd storm for various reasons and th collie (mine!!) well for her i wanted a true collie name.... and the two ran nicely - it wasnt really planned.

i think it really interesting to see what and why people call their pets.

Re: dogs names

Me and my partner are looking for a puppy at the mo and I want to call him a person's name because I think it's cute to have a human name for a dog. Mind you my friend who loves dogs and shows all her 5 says my son has a dogs name (Harvey) so I might just be a bit mixed up!!
I'm thinking of calling my puppy Barry!!
