Hi All

As a new mum to Bobby, who is now 18 weeks old, we have had him for almost 12 weeks I wanted to check that our routine is ok for him, he is an English Springer and absolutely lovely and well behaved!

We get up with him around 7am midweek and 8am at weekends, outside for wees and poos then we have a play whilst getting ready for the day and a 30-40 min walk at around 8am midweek and 9am weekends.

Then from 9am -1pm midweek he looks after himself, I work at home so he is in the kitchen with me, and can go in and out to the garden etc, we have a little play/training session at around 11am but thats it, he generally sleeps until 1pm when we have lunch and a walk for 20-30 mins.

Then again from 2pm - 5.30 pm he has to entertain himself whilst I work, again, I am in the same room as him but apart from some play/trianing for 10 mins at around 3.30ish he sleeps or plays with his toys/plays out in the garden etc.

Then at 6pm we have dinner and then my boyfriend and I take him for a nice walk to the beach/park etc for a good hr then quiet evenings until around 10.30 when its bedtime.

He is lovely and responds to sit, down, wait, come etc and for the days I go out to work he goes to a dog sitter so he isnt left on his own for more than 2 hrs when I might go shopping.

He is housetrained and seems to be very happy and is very good, just wanted to check with others that I am doing enough for him

sounds ideal, you have everything covered, even the dog sitterfor the days you work away.

Everything sounds great, other than the walking.. I'd assume that was too much for a puppy.

Everything sounds great but the walking he shouldn't be doing more than 20-25 minutes at a time.

thanks everyone, we only do 5-10 mins on the roads the rest of the walk is in the field or the beach but I will take your comments onboard and ensure we dont walk him too long.

That should be fine as long as he has the opportunity to run around and stop if he wants

its sounds as if you are doing brilliant with him i have 2 springers they are ajoy to have just going to classes with barney he is really coming on and he enjoys it keep up the good work

yes have started Puppy classes with Bobby too, he has been to 2 now, and we are learning how to train him !! we did down last week and now he has that one, and leave too!!! very clever boy!
