Emmaslegs is on a distinguished road
Possible scam

Hello everyone
My name is Chrissie and I have just lost my goldie Emma (Emmaslegs). She died on the 30 May. We miss her terribly especially me as she was always by my side. Anyway, I have got in touch with the Irish Retriever Rescue (IRR) People who have been a wonderful source of support for me.

This post is to alert everyone to a potential scam. Link attached.

Cute golden retriever puppy for adoption - Telford Dawley

I contacted them to see if it was genuine and got a very odd e-mail back with appalling grammer etc and saying I would have to pay £150 for delivery to my home to the "delivery agent". If there are pups then they must be from puppy farms. They have contacted me again with an even more badly written e-mail saying they are currently in New York. Just wanted to alert as many people as I could. I have contacted IRR and they recall something similar a few months ago.

Re: Possible scam

Sadly these scams are very common and have been operating for at least 2 yrs to my knowledge... I guess longer. The advertisers steal someone else's legitimate ad, put on a photo from somewhere else and go mad on all the free advertising sites.

It has to be a case of 'buyer beware' and hopefully most genuine people will either be put off by the first response as you were. 2 yrs ago I decided to respond to what I could see was dodgy, out of interest... I was enquiring after a kitten, and the response told me when did I want the puppy delivered!

I kept replying asking for details of the pedigree of the kitten (as it had been advertised as breeding quality!) and could I see the parents and visit. All I got back were more emails saying, more or less, did I want a **** puppy or not! LOL.

Re: Possible scam

Thankyou for making us aware - if only other people were more wise to them, then people wouldn't get scammed. It's so cruel! I don't know how those scammers can sleep at night

Good luck in your search for a new dog, I hope he or she brings you as much happiness as Emma did

Re: Possible scam

Pauline from IRR has got back to me and agrees it is the same scam from a few months ago. Wish I could get my hands around their necks.

As for a new puppy, well everything is still very raw at the moment, I can't put into words how much Emma meant to us, our whole life revolved around her. I know I need to be a bit more emotionally stable before I get another particularly as it is likely to be a couple of rescues. I am going to the IRR get together on 12th September Irish Retriever Rescue UK
and we are sponsoring, Lucy, Freddie and Zena. Would recommend all goldie lovers to have a quick look at this sight, they do some wonderful work. If you go to the Rainbow Bridge link you will see some words I wrote about my Ems!
