Breeds ?

Okay soo ..

I already own a English Springer Spaniel - Male - 3 years , and I would like to buy a puppy around 3 - 4 months male or female but I dont know what breed !! its driving me crazy , i figured i dont want a mix bred dog as i would like to know what it will roughly turn out to be like ( breed profile kinda things ? do you get me ? ) and have researched soo many dog breeds and there is LOADS , so could anyone suggest a breed to me which is kinda like the following description -

- Fairely energetic like my Springer
- A quite BIG dog the smallest I would go for is english springer spaniel size
- Dont mind if there long haired or short
- Good with small children
- Not too dominating
- Good with other dogs and animals
- And barks at people who come into the garden but if they actually came in wouldnt bite them ( if that makes sense ? tells you someo ones here but if they actually come in without you there WOULDNT attack )

( summer - they would be kept indoors in a airconditioned room with water and toys ect untill the heat dies down and the be let outside and then I would excersise them and at night will be indoors , winter - they will be let out in the mornings and brought back in at night )

could anyone please suggest any breeds like that ^ ?

thank you soo much !
x

Re: Breeds ?

My friend owns a german shorthaired pointer and he is the most fantastic laid back dog. He does need quite a bit of exercise but they have found him fairly easy to train to the whistle and he is a big softy. He is a good house dog.

I would say that there arent any breeds that are more likely to bite someone entering your garden - any dog has the potential to bite an intruder

Re: Breeds ?

I think a labrador (biased i know ) but they really are such good dogs, my 7 month old lab has been so easy to train, is really obedient, great with kids and other dogs. cant really fault him to be honest!! hes energetic but not overly if you know what i mean!? i take him on a nice long walk then hes flat out fast asleep most of the night!lol
have a think about it anyway, theres loads of info on the net about all different types of dogs !

Sounds like a good description of a bergamasco to me! Plus a bergie's coat provides its own air conditioning, so the dogs are comfortable in all weathers.
