Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

Heres your chance to vote about vets, are they pet lovers??? or are they just money makers!
My Esperance of vets is overrated i say most of them are money makers! i am talking about how we feel about vets on a ole, not good one that weve managed to find out of dozens of bad ones
One of the biggest vets in the country here in Gloucester has a mini cash Machine in the waiting area(

Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

In the past I would have said money maker's the last 3 vets I used were useless money makers. But my current vet is tops and a real pet lover. But for the majority I vote they are money makin' scumbags. (my current vet excluded)

Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

In our pet owning lifetime, we've only ever had two vets. The first were money makers, definately. So we moved and couldn't ask for a better practice. Our new vets are complete animal lovers. Also, as I'm planning on becoming a vet in later life, and am not doing it for the money, I voted for animal lovers.

Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

they are making money as soon as you walk through the door charges up to £50 some before you even get to see a vet.
and then the normal question are they insured so the price goes up more,
and what with all the unnessary test they do. its the first thing they say now days got to do some tests.

on the odd occasion you find a vet thats good, they examine the animal first then give you something that will clear it up. as a last result they do tests.
so it dont end up pay out hundreds of pounds for things and test you shouldnt need in the first place.

Unhappy Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

i would say money makers, although the vet i have now is brilliant and like bull breeds , myself and oh were able to be with our little girl for her c-section , which was really something else. my little boy dog caught fox mange last year and my previous vet had us up there every week with stronghold treatment, malasab shampoo, anti biotics, virbac shampoo and then after about 12 weeks of treatment at nearly £70 per visit decided perhaps we should try the mange wash which completely cured him!!!!!!!!!!! £15 for a bottle!!!!! so definately money makers or legalised robbers as we call them!

Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

In my opinion, if you think your vet is only in it for the money you should find another vet.

We went to a few before we found one we were happy with. He is certainly an animal lover and always gives our pets a good fuss before he examines them which I think is a good sign. All to many try to dive in with a thermometer or start flipping them round without introducing themselves to the animal first. He still gives them a love everytime he seems them now, even Milo likes him, and he generally hates vets!

Our cats have been very ill and because they were there so often they started just charging us for medication and not for consultations. He also rang us out of hours between appointments to check how they were getting on etc. Yes he gets paid but he went beyond the call of duty for us and I think that is a very admirable trait in a vet.

A lot of vets are just in it for the money and that really does pee me off but they are not all bad.

Re: Vets poll ,pet lovers? or money makers???

Out of all the vets over the years there was only 1 that was in it for the money - the rest have all been really good with all my animals. The vet I am with now doesnt charge me a consult half the time and he keeps his prices very low. No complaints
