James Wellbeloved

Hi Guys,

I have recently started feeding my two Chihuahuas James Wellbeloved. I have always fed all my dogs James Wellbeloved and I have to say that I starting to wonder why :s

My puppy Josie was originally on Royal Canin Puppy from the breeder and it was no good so we changed it almost immidiately as it gave her the runs very badly and she was quite poorly. We feed her chicken, rice and chicken and rice balls (it was a specialist puppy bland dry food) and that worked very well and she loved it. The food is running low now, so have decided to start changing it gradually. I mixed in a small amount of James Wellbeloved puppy into the other food and now she has bad gut ache. She has a huge belly and is really lathargic and farting like mad! She is obviously not well from the food.

I have another dog who is 8 who was given to us with no food. I from the start gave her james wellbeloved and she was fine. I have now started her on the Senior food and she hates it. wont touch it.

Thinking back to when my other doggy was alive. She always got gut ache and we planned to change her food. I didnt think Josie would be the same but she is.

Is this a Chihuahua specific thing?

Just wanted to know where anyone has any ideas on why? and what I should do? recommended dog foods?

Re: James Wellbeloved

Silas is on James Wellbeloved because he can't eat raw and he's great on it. It's a pretty good quality food. Could you take him to the vet see if its an allergy?

Re: James Wellbeloved

We got Pippin from rescue last year and she came with pedigree puppy which we didnt really want her on. So gradually changed her to JWB and she has been fine on it. Poops always fine, no wind and tum is fine.

Pip is a poodle x cavalier and is 4kg, and is 19 months old.

Wink Re: James Wellbeloved

Could be allergic to a certain ingredient, some dog food bloats a dogs stomache but doesnt have the same effect with another dog. I used to have my chihuahua on Science dry, but then they went off it, so i have them on Bakers,I leave a bowl of Bakers down all day as my chi's dont eat alot they seem to pick all through the day, alot of people dont like Bakers but myself have had no problems, in the evening I give them some butchers dog food (tin) they love it, and I have not had any problems with runny poo's farting bloat etc. Not sure if all Chihuahua's are the same though. I would check with your vet to see what he suggests. xxxxx

Re: James Wellbeloved

All dogs can vary on what food suits them, JWB did not suit my dog, terrible wind and runny poos, so now on nature diet, much better. my friend also had same problem with her lab with JWB, but i know many other people use it with no problems. maybe be an allergy to some of the ingredients. Hope you find something soon that suits your dog.

Re: James Wellbeloved

I dont think Chihuahua's are known for having bad food reactions. I got mine (chihuahua and chiweenie) on JWB coz of my whippet and they all love it.
Mind you the little'uns could eat plutonium without getting a gutache!!(still havent seen the rubber glove my little chi ate yet!!)

Re: James Wellbeloved

we changed zebs food from James welbeloved to Arden grange because of the wind problem and the fact that he was pooping like 7 times a day!

Re: James Wellbeloved

My Chi won't touch JWB, no matter how you try and persuade him. The picking throughout the day thing I think is very typical and mine is the same.

I hope you manage to find a food that agrees with his stomach and his palate! I wish I could find something that mine would actually happily eat without needing to be convinced.

I shall be doing the same when i get to the bottom of my current sack. I swear they poop double the amount they eat.

I also believe that AG source their meat from free range, and not intensively reared animals.
