Re: Dog Collars!!

As a puppy he only wore his collar for a few minutes at a time until he got used to it. He wears his all the time now.

It hasn't caused any damage to his coat but its extremely loose. I don't attach his lead to his collar, he has a harness.

When I take his collar off him to shower/wash him he doesn't like it. He sits patiently until it is placed back on him.

Duke had a yellow micro-chip tag to show he had been micro-chipped by the Dog Trust which must have broken and fallen off. He has a standard metal bone shaped ID tag now which includes the words "Please Scan Me".

I didn't acquire Duke from the Dog Trust, they were offering free micro-chipping at PAH so I took the opportunity of getting Duke chipped.

Back to collars I believe provided they are fitted properly it is the same as us wearing a watch.

Milo's the same, he likes having his collar on.

Re: Dog Collars!!

I think it really depends on what you thinks best for the dog?

I personally think that its unique to each situation, the cat's in the garden issue is a bit worrying and i'd, think twice about puttin a "strong" collar on any outdoor cat. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Re: Dog Collars!!

Cat collars are dangerous, on two occasions I have found Jasper in the garden with his leg right through the collar. Whilst there is flexibility to enable them to release if they are caught on a tree branch there can be too much room. It almost cut him under his leg (I nearly said armpit).

He doesn't wear a collar now at all.

Re: Dog Collars!!

My dog wears her collar when she goes out but never in the house when we're not around, we came in once and she had her collar caught round the window handle whilst sat on the windowsil. If she'd have fallen....

Also know of a rottie puppy that got hung from something similar which came into work but sadly died.

My cats have collars that snap off, stretchy ones are lethal and we get so many collar wound cats in work, they take so long to heal. =(
