I haven't read Endal yet, but I have read 'second chance' and it makde me seriously consider raising a guide dog puppy. But I don't think I could bear it leaving!
I agree with whoever said it is part of their socialisation, making them confident etc x

The main difference between a rescue and an assistance dog is that the assistance dog is given love and lots of socialisation to help them through.
The people who train these dogs do a fantastic job and the dogs would not do what they do if they were mistreated as some rescues are. I worked in a kennels and if we had a dog that needed rehoming for any reason we always contacted dogs for the deaf to see if they could take it. They take rescues.
