Arran's the same, my other dog will try and jump in any car/van/bus that happens to have it's door open when she passes . Arran not only has the car sickness but when we get him out of the car he has a dose of the trots as well, as he's a sheltie you can imagine the state both ends of him are in, it's not nice .

Nicci I've never heard of the antistatic strips, can I ask where you bought them from.

Terri

Re: Car sickness

antistatic strips hang down at the back of the car so a store like Halfords that sell car parts and things should have those I think
I have one Bichon thats sick in the car but as she is small I bought an
updo seat that goes in the front seat next to me She is fine in that as she can see out of the window its a high seat for a dog but not much good if your dog is big though so those antistatic strips may be worth a try.

Re: Car sickness

I am also interested in hearing peoples ideas as we have a whippet who dribbles constantly in the car, and a jack russel who is always sick within the first 20 mins of any journey, but a whippet, a westie and another jack who can travel any distance without any problems....

Ginger is a good general anti-nausea remedy. Stugeron is another alternative. I'm a bad traveller and use homeopathic travel sickness tablets (made by Nelsons, from health food shops) and they help a lot. All these have to be given some time before the journey, so forward planning is essential.
Part of the problem now will be that your dog is expecting to feel bad in the car - so use medication, keep journeys short and make the trip fun enough to outweigh any fear and nausea.
