Re: How far can Molly go??

Totally agree with all this. We used to have a westie. She would walk miles and when we were finished she was keen to do it all over again!

I now have 2 pugs and dispite their reputation they come everywhere with me. We go to the beach every weekend, they even had a little swim in the sea - it wasnt intentional, i was up to my knees, they were no longer touching the ground, oops!

Anyway, a healthy little dog of 2 should be able to take what ever you give

Re: How far can Molly go??

My Little dogs walk 5 miles most days, mostly off lead- running around like loonies
Will run next to our bikes for 20 mins at a time (I'm sure they'd go further but I always stop for a while - often they are pulling me along - LOL)
They will come out with us for the day etc.
And they both do agility.
They are both Shih Tzu crosses and weigh 16 and 8 lbs.

Molly sounds like a well loved and healthy girl.

Re: How far can Molly go??

Hey, i agree, they can certainly go for miles
Not that i can take Holly that far at the moment till she is a little bigger, but from other Westie owners i have spoken to they all say what strong little hardy dogs they are and love their walks..

Re: How far can Molly go??

Thank you all again for so much input.

Molly doesn't seem to ache like mummy after walking uphills...she had a good 2 hour run tonight as usual and is now having happy doggy dreams! xx

Re: How far can Molly go??

I dont think the average person will be able to outwalk a dog of any size. Not sure about your remarks about her heart. Why should she have a small heart, she will have the right sized heart to pump the blood around her body - unless you havent told us something about her medical history.
My shelties used to go everywhere with me. They got several miles walking every day and our holidays were always walking holidays - going up to 20 miles a day.

Thanks for replying Blitz,

I have no medical concerns with her heart it was just a general question, but DT and Dundee answered my queries about the size of a dog's heart and body.
I'm happy that I am reassured about the walks Molly has.
