This morning no different to any other morning Duke went out I always check that both gates are shut. Jasper our cat climbed over the middle gate something he won't do if its open, he'll climb the fence.

I was in the kitchen making coffee, I thought I heard the postman, so thought nothing of it but fortunately the wind caused the gates to close with a bang, I knew it was the middle gate, I ran out screaming for Duke, I could sense he wasn't in the back garden.

I wont go into detail on the internet as there could be repercussions, but I got him back. I'm not sure whether the lout was trying to steal him or just allowing him to wonder onto the busy road.

I couldn't believe how quick it can happen. Phew just starting to calm down. I always hoped missing dogs had just escaped and would be picked up by say the dog wardens or worse case scenario they have been sold for money to a responsible family. I never imagined what it was like for the actual owner. You think you can imagine.

My hubby has put another latch on the gate very low down so it cannot be easily opened. If they are that desperate they will break the gate but I'll be waiting.

My husband bl**dy 5th dan! didn't hear anything by the time he realised it was over.
