I don't think I get the same tripe as you! I store and defrost mine outside where Dexter eats it. My only regret is that he has a dangley beard which doesn't make cuddling him so sweet.

Well said. I've done a mass of research and love my dog so I only want the best for him. One man's meat is another's poison (especially where tripe's concerned)!!

Re: Raw feeding - didnt go quite to plan.

How long does chicken take to defrost? I got some thigh quarters on wednesday, froze them, took them out yesterday about 4pm, and like it said on the packet, left them to defrost overnight in the fridge. Yet them still feel pretty solid to me.
I was planning on trying them this evening, but im worried they wont be defrosted enough.

I usually leave mine out overnight on the work top and they've defrosted by the morning, don't know about fridge defrosting though sorry. Not much help!!

Maybe i should take it out of the fridge then. Ill stick it in the microwave (not on of course) otherwise the cats will have it.

Good idea, keeps the flies off too. I have one of those net things that cover food for mine. My cat has been known to be seen dragging half a chicken leg across the garden!! He's half raw fed now because he does like his crunchie bix but he gets minced meat instead of tins.

Re: Raw feeding - didnt go quite to plan.

Finally defrosted.

Is a chicken thigh quarter too much for each dog? They dont look that big and they havent had anything else today. But i dont want to over do it and cause problems.

Re: Raw feeding - didnt go quite to plan.

It depends how big your dogs are! Their full days food should be about 2 percent of their body weight if they are adults and between 4 and 6 of their weight if they are puppies (although those figures seem to differ depending on who you talk to). One chicken leg would leave my dog looking for more!!

I don't worry about defrosting too much. I tend to leave it up to my dog to decide whether he wants to wait. If I give him minced meat or minced tripe defrosted, it doesn't touch the sides! Being frozen slows him down which gives his brain time to register he's eaten! Also, he is still teething and seems to quite like the coolness. He prefers bones defrosted. My Mum and kids thought I was really cruel until they saw him yomping his food down, frozen or not. All I can say is I have one happy and healthy dog.

Hope that helps.
