sudden puppy death :(

hi, just over a year ago we got our first little patterdale puppy, he was adorable and well welcomed into our family of six!!! however, we made a classic mistake of going to a breeder we did not know, after telling us all pups were wormed we took guinness home and after a few weeks of worming he vomited and passed worms, we got him vet treatment and found he had not even been weaned and needed powdered puppy milk. anyway, fast forward three months and he is getting on fine but one day we find him slumped on the window sill, lifeless, it was heartbreaking as you can imagine. we have since got another patterdale who is healthy and fine, but i couldn't help but ask if anyone has had a similar experience??

thanks, sorry if i dampened your day!!!

Re: sudden puppy death :(

thats so sad
when crystal gave birth we took all the pups up the vet and mum to have them checked out but had 1 pup that the vet said he may make it or may not, so we were giving him extra little bit of milk and making sure that he did get onto mum and got fed ok, but after a few days he stopped sucking on mum,
and stopped taking milk from us he just gave up.
it was so sad but gave him every chance,

Re: sudden puppy death :(

How sad, it is something I worried about, Duke was supposed to have been 8 weeks old when we brought him home. I'm no expert but on hindsight I doubt he was 6 weeks. Although he was eating he was also lapping.

He was a poorly pup and was under veterinary care for months. To look at him now you wouldn't believe it.

same situation with the age, we brought him to the vets attention, wasn't our usual vet, but i think perhaps with close observation he may have made it, but i suppose these things happen, and i find comfort in the fact that he had so much love and attention in the little time he had!!
