Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

When the puppies 6weeks free insurance is over, I will be getting a joint insurance, as Zeus's is up for renewal soon, so I'll do both at the same time. And I've got a compare website booked

Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

If the KC paper work hasn't been sent off for by the time you choose your pup as some breeder allow the new owner to pick the kc name, if this is the case you want a signed receipt to say they will post it on to you when they receive it.
If they give you a puppy pack then this should have the food in that the pup is being fed on.

Good luck on getting your pup.

Can't say I have ever heard of a peach labrador before though, I thought they were yellow, black or chocolate and sometimes the fox red colour.

take care

Sarah

The breeder won't microchip the puppy for you, the vet will do this for you and its usually around £20.
What age are you getting him at? If its 8 weeks, they should already have their first jags and be wormed. If its 12 weeks then the pup should have had both jags.
You may find that the pup has already been microchipped - some breeders do this before the pups leave home. I haven't done before but may well consider this next time I have a litter.

And you may find that the first jab hasn't been given if you are taking your pup at 8 weeks. I don't jab my pups that leave at that age - I expect the new owner to take the pup to the vet within a few days of collecting the pup for an independent health check and to have the first jab. Not all vets use the same brand of vaccine and if the breeder uses one sort and your vet uses another, your vet will want to start the course again - not something I'd want to do to a pup.

Time shall tell

Questions so far:

- Mum's hip and eye tests.
- Puppy Pack & Insurance.
- Wormed before going to new home.
- Microchipped?
- Family Tree?
- KC Registration of the mother?
- Puppy papers?

Anything else to add to that list?
I would ask the breeder these questions before you go - it may save you a wasted journey, and seeing the puppies has the added disadvantage of falling for one and letting your hear rule your head

Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

Really I'd like to get one by July 18thas I'm then off work for 6weeks which would be ideal, for making the feeding times.

How much would the breeder likely charge me to keep the pup for an extra 2weeks?

Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

Hi Slakey - A nice stud, however, I just wanted to point out a couple of things. Firstly, you did mention that you may want to show the labrador you get. Unfortunately, this won't be able to with this puppy as it is at least half working bred (without seeing the dam's pedigree), and I'm afraid it will be disheartening to take this type of labrador into the show ring. Secondly, because this pup is, at least half, working/trialling lines, it will have a lot more drive than a show/pet bred labrador. That doesn't mean they don't make good pets, but it's important to be aware that they will have a much higher drive and intelligence and therefore need much more to occupy themselves.

Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

Well it'll mainly be a family pet, showing was just a thought. So I'm not really fussed if I can show or not. I am looking at getting those dog toys from Nini Ottosson. And well the puppy will have Zeus to entertain him.

I'm not deffinately getting that puppy, I'm just looking. I may not like the look of the puppy, or the breeder etc. I just wanna look so I get an idea of what to ask, look out for, plus they're really close and it's free to go look :P

I may be put off lab pups by what I see, you never know

Re: Going to see puppies on Saturday.

Ahhhh! I really can't wait!

Tomorrow at 10am I'm being picked up then we go to see the lil puppies And I'm taking some money with me for a deposit just in case.

Do you think they'd keep the puppy a lil extra until 18-19th July? They said they'd be ready by end of June...

How much will this cost extra?
DO you see any faults into them keeping the puppy longer?

Hiya!!

Im sure the breeders would be happy to keep the pup for you. If they arent then i would question there integrity (i know thats the prob the wrong spelling!!) As keeping that pup for 2 weeks extra is for the benefit of the pup as he will then have your full attention for 6 weeks!! That make sense?? Im sure they will have no problem with it!!

I bet you cant wait!!
