I was the same. Oscar was a rescue, so parentage unknown. But Alfie i got because i befriended his mums owners. She was a rescue with no know history, and dad was a KC registered dog, but the fact that he covered a rescue female, says a lot about his owners ethics.
Tbh, i knew nothing about health testing at the time, i merely got the fat little puppy i liked the look of. Ive been extremely fortunate that hes had no major health problems. I did have his elbows x-rayed as i was CONVINCED he didnt walk properly, but they were perfectly fine.

Id never make such naive mistakes again, but then again, i dont plan to ever buy a puppy again. Ive certainly learnt a great deal from the breeding section on here, and of course has gained knowledge just through being a dog owner.

Dogs don't have to be K.C reg to be officially scored by the B.V.A my son owns Cane Corso's which do not have any kennel club recognition, all his dogs have been hip and elbow scored

There must be different paper work then. When i used to x-ray for hip scores, the KC registration number was always required. We were never asked to hip score non KC dogs, so not a scenario im familiar with.
