Unhappy 'dogs trust' or breed rescue

Dear all

First of all.. please I don't need to hear any accusations as this situation we are finding ourselves in is enough to cope with.

Due to the recent change in my working situation I will not be able to do any more justice to my beloved dog and furry friend over the last 51/2 years of my life.

As I wasn't successfull in my search for a responsible and dog loving person / family with whom I could have shared my dog with I find myself in the situation of finding a good new home for my little fellow.

I feel that the way to a good new home via a breed rescue is better than via organisations like dogs trust.

What is your experience?

Thank you for every constructive advice.

Nat

Can you not contact your dogs breeder?. If they care and are reputable they would take him back

It depends where you live as I know Many Tears rescue do a fine job of rehoming dogs. Maybe you could phone them and they could advise you on this matter.

Re: 'dogs trust' or breed rescue

Sorry to hear you are having to rehome your dog, it is sometimes necessary and i feel for you having to do it, what breed is he and what area are you in? I have never had any experience with the organisations you mention but I would think that a rescue for the particular breed would be the best idea.

Re: 'dogs trust' or breed rescue

Right, I don't know what breed we are talking about here. But I really do think the dogs breeders should be the first port of call. Why? Because if I were a breeder or ever did think about breeding, I would be devastated if I found a puppy of mine, no matter how old had been handed into rescue.

Re: 'dogs trust' or breed rescue

My dog's breeder is back in austria. My dog and I came over from Switzerland to live in the UK a year ago.

On my search for a breeder here in the UK I found this 'breed rescue' based in Kent.

If you really can't keep him and have exhausted all alternatives, breed rescue really is the best place.

He is a Miniature Pinscher - the most beautiful best sweetest funniest... Miniature Pinscher ever.. !

It was my thoughts as well that people who contact this 'breed rescue' are looking for this specific breed and know already what to expect from their future companion. This woman confirmed that if there should be any problems in a potential new home, she always would take him back..

Re: 'dogs trust' or breed rescue

I would defiantly go with breed rescue, they understand the breed better and are able to find people who they feel understand the breed and suit well.

I'm sorry to hear you have to give up your loved friend, i'm sure he will find a lovley home.

Out of curiosity, what breed is he?

edit; seen your post
