Tortoise attacks dog

I posted this in the tortoise forum but I'm putting it here too as I don't think many will see it there.

I was looking through some old photos on photobucket earlier and found these that I took of my friends tortoise attacking her mums greyhound. These photos are as they were taken through the kitchen window the tortoise came from one side of the garden after the greyhound Deally.

Dealy is sleeping on the lawn and has not noticed the tortoise

OWWWW its bitten his paw

whippet Jessie comes to his aid

These photos were taken a couple of years ago but she tells me the other day she put the dogs into the garden whilst she popped across to the shop. When she returned she couldn't see the dogs. When found them cowering in the back of her kennels with the tortoise standing in the gateway. The dogs included a greyhound x whippet working lurcher and a bull x greyhound working lurcher who were shaking with fear of the tortoise. As soon as she removed the tortoise the dogs happily came back out.

I went back to her house a couple of months later and took my greyhound and some of my whippets. William(greyhound) was terrified of the tortoise and Owen (whippet) couldn't understood why this 'rock' was suddenly charging round the garden after him and stood barking at it.
