Chewing the walls

Arnie has begun to chew on the walls, little **** has just had a go and wallpaper now missing and plaster all over floor part from the usual (telling him off etc) any suggestions he's now sulking at my feet.

Re: Chewing the walls

I had the same problem with Henrick, he only does it every now and then but he has gouged a big hole out of the plaster, I am thinking about putting chilli sauce on the place where he chews . I will watch this thread closely to see if there are any tips to stopping it.

Re: Chewing the walls

I have actually had the plasterer in today to repair my walls, Maggie is now almost 15 months old and seems to be over the worst of it (touch wood) so I have braved fixing it so I can redecorate (I had better make sure it is to her taste this time ). Plaster was very much her thing but only when I was out. The things I used to stop or at least deter her were either vicks vapour rub or olbas oil. It put her right off but obviously your house pongs of it!!

Re: Chewing the walls

Chilli sauce does not work! Next door put it ont he chair to stop Bullseye eating it and he licked it off and chewed the chair anyway.

I use the 'Canac pet behavior spray' they don't like the smell of that, or bitter apple.

Re: Chewing the walls

My dogs have never bothered with the bitter apple and other bite deterrant sprays, just carried on. I ended up diluting the olbas with water in a spray bottle so it will last longer and makes it easy to apply, otherwise you spend a fortune and end up kind of flicking it on to your walls from the little dropper.

Re: Chewing the walls

i have never had this problem with Defa,in fact i never realised just how good he is until we got Alfie. Alfie has destroyed my new wallpaper and plaster and antique pine table and chairs.

he also steals food he knows he shouldnt so only does it when your back is turned then hides but he is getting worse, i went to let my dad out of the front door, came back and he had licked my tea plate on the table clean! any ideas how to stop this?
