Re: House Training!

At night I found it better to use newspaper, pads aren't quite big enough his paws were on the pad but his bum missed

I use the words hurry-up and be-quick (The Barbara Woodhouse Way). Do not use these words if you have young children. Its easy to tell the kids to hurry up and hey presto the dogs have s**t.

Through the day I carried him outside on waking, after playing, after a meal, before we go to bed at about midnight and in the morning by 5.00am.

Duke was house trained in a couple of weeks.

Re: House Training!

We never used either,we used to take them out last thing around 11.30pm and settle them down in their cages next to our bed, they used to wake in the early hours,so i used to get up to take them out and then settle them back down, every night we extended the time by 1/2 hour and they went through,as soon as this happened we moved the crates downstairs and used baby monitors.

Our's were trained in about a month

That sounds like a really good method, I don't have a cage but it worth thinking about in future.

Re: House Training!

We used newspaper to start with but Trinny would only associate going to the toilet with the paper, she'd come in to go on the paper. So we've got rid of the newspaper and she's improving now!
