I've never heard of a reputable breeder that charges extra to register a puppy.

Please walk away and find another breeder.

Re: Starting to worry now...

Alarm bell ringing here too!

No decent breeder would allow a complete stranger into there house to meet a bitch and puppies only hours after birth.

The breeder wants more money to register a puppy, again a sign of an irresponsible breeder, good breeders will register a litter if the breed is eligible for KC Registration.

As Dundee pointed out health checked is completely different to health testing for breed specific conditions,I honestly believe some incompetent breeders don't know the difference.

My advice Leave this litter well alone, contact one of the breed clubs, the secretary will know of litters available or due, usually from good reputable breeders with health tested dogs.

Re: Starting to worry now...

It costs a few pounds to register a puppy with the KC and you can do it on line as well, if you don't want it bred from then you put a restriction on, which costs the breeder nothing to lift apart from the time to write a short letter. Want to bet that you would struggle to get the paperwork too?

So sorry this person is having you on - 'see the health tests when you pick the pup up', you've seen the pup already she should be willing to let you see the records now and give you a copy in your puppy pack.

Do you know the dam and sire's KC names? If so then as another poster said you can check the test done on the KC website, under health.

I know you are keen to have a particular colour BUT without the right tests with the right results, especially on a CKCS, you don't know what you are getting, be very careful here and if you have fallen in love then go in with your eyes wide open please.
