Got Sox a crate

Hiya, well I have just picked up a crate for Sox from s very kind freecycler, she coildn't wait to go in and see what it was. She has been in and out a few times now which is good, at least she now has her own private chill out space xx lisa xx

Hi yeah I have read a few different site's about introducing the to the crate, putting treats just inside then further and further in. I totaly expected her to hate it and have to be coaxed in there but she couldn't wait to get in. She has only spent a few mins at a time in there but its going well so far, and have layed the rules down to the children that its a NO go area for them xx lisa xx

They usually like going in just don't shut the door too quick.

Let her get happy with the door open then pop her in with a good bone or filled frozen kong and shut the door opening it just before she finishes .

basically the key is once she is used to it , if she is calm open the door and lots of fuss if she is barking ignore it.

She will soon learn to wait quietly to be let out if you are going to use it like that.

Glad she likes it so far, that's a good start.

Re: Got Sox a crate

If you feed her in there and shut the door while she eats its a good idea

I had to re-introduce the crate to Dave after all his brothers and sisters went, because he was so used to sharing it! But I fed him his dinner in it, and shut the door, opened it again when he had almost finished

I also tied one of his fave toys in at the back, long enough so he could play with it, but short enough it stayed in the crate

Good luck with her
