Re: E collars can save a life!

Properly fitting the collar to the dog is of prime importance, but the unit itself can't do major damage unless incorrectly fitted so that the prongs embed themselves in the neck. I wouldn't use one myself, but I can see where the use of one might prevent uncontrolled behavior. Last edited by JA12; 31-03-2008 at 01:18 PM.. |

Re: E collars can save a life!
I am quite heartened by the way this thread had been considered.
I have in no way advocated this method of this training, nor would I. However, truth be told, under license and with the correct trainer, they can and have undoubtedly saved lives.

Re: E collars can save a life!
Hi I have just registered for this site, and was looking to see comments about using ecollars.
Now first one I see mentions Cesar Millan, and my reason for looking was whether to use an ecollar to help get my dog's attention when far away( she is a whippet lurcher) after viewing Cesar using an ecollar for a farm dog who wanted to bite all the moving tyres on a large American Farm( today on Sky 3). So even Cesar can see a use for these and certainly providing they are not Tasar strenghth( 50'000 volts??? ) then I think they can be useful.Must say I would prefer some other method due to both expense and certain trepidation. I have problems getting good callback from my dog, especially when she gets good distance away( bear in mind she accelerates faster than the space shuttle). so anyone reading this with ideas please let me know. |
