Re: Very bad news

I did something similar myself a few months ago and regret it now.
We really don't know what is going on in peoples lives.

Re: Very bad news

Re: Very bad news

I got depressed when my son was very young and I had 3 dogs at the time, my partner left me on my own.
It was the hardest decision I made but I gave my lab who i got at 6 months to a good friend, and my dobe x boxer who I got at 3 months to another friend and packed up as much as I could and put me, my son and my lab x who i had for a year since she was 6 weeks on the train and went home to my mum. (at this point the lab was about a year and the dobe x about 7 months and the lab x a year and a bit)

The dobe x ended up costing them 100's in vet bills as I had been mislead into thinking he was a healthy puppy then he got too big and they rehomed him through dogs trust without telling me. The lab got returned to me a 6 months later he was untrained and a nusance, I had to find him another home. Those people I thought were good friends didn't care anymore once I had moved to get help and
My lab x went to my dads for 6 months before he admitted defeat she had really bad SA and off she went to the kennels.

I wished I had just taken all my dogs to the sspca they would have homed them properly first time.

That was the most traumatic year of my life losing not one, but 3 dogs I loved but I had to do it for my son and for my own health, before I moved home I would get out of my bed only to feed my son and feed and exercise the dogs. I had no one around me who could help, or point me in the right direction of a doctor or anything. Then one day my mum called and asked me how I was and I burst into tears and told her I would be on the train the following day.

I still miss all three dogs sorely, and wish I could have done better for them but at the end of the day they are all in happy homes, they are well cared for and I got the help I needed.

When I got my own place I did what ai know best and went into fostering again until I felt I could own my own dog again and now I have Dixie who is 1.5 and Dave who is 4 months.

Keep your chin up, you need to do whats right and good luck, Don't feel too embarased to make the call, you are brave and you have tried hard.

xx

Re: Very bad news

I think as Rainy has already suggested this thread is best put to bed.
In defence of those of us who have added our somewhat 'unpopular comments' I feel that there are those amongst us who are 'old school' if you like and would never dream of giving up on an animal of any sort after such a short time.

That said I think now we have to try and respect the OP wishes and offer help and support if we are able.
