Talking She finally did it!

I've been getting a bit worried about Sky lately. The only time she uses her bark is when she's in our back garden (our neighbours own staffs and another GSD). She never barks when someone comes to the house (even though our collie cross goes bonkers - I would have thought she might have learnt to bark from her) and she never barks when she's outside.

But today she finally did it! I was walking her down to my mother's house, and a little yorkie started barking from a front garden. Sky looked at it and barked once, then continued walking. The poor little yorkie crapped itself!

I'm so proud, she DOES have a voice

Hehe, I'm quite glad she doesn't use her bark much and I don't want her getting bark happy, but I can stop worrying, I was starting to wonder if she knew what a bark was lol

Re: She finally did it!

I don't mind westies my neighbour had 2 when I was a kid they were such sweet dogs. But the 3 brats in yorkie skins across the street from me are demons and the other 5 or so on the street aren't much better. Of course any barking at other dogs should never be encouraged

Oh wow, that's a lot of yorkies in one street!
No, I'm just glad she doesn't bark often, so the poor little yorkie must have annoyed her with its yapping

Re: She finally did it!

Theres a byb breeder of "miniature yorkies" I think about half of them come from him and he has um 2 dogs. Most people around here have little lapdogs or rotties, gsds etc. I don't blame her its the most annoying thing I have ever heard.

Sky

I'd say though if she doesn't bark at other dogs when they bark at her- you're on to a winner. There is nothing wrong with a "bomb proof" dog

TBH I think it's not really about breed but the individual dogs. You can get some lovely yorkies and some not so well behaved yorkies. Just like you can get a lovely goldie and a not so friendly goldie.

Re: She finally did it!

I guess its just the owners around here no one really trains them the only ones I've seen walked are the demon 3. The only goldie I've met is a big overgrown puppy who adores everyone.
