Re: Maybe it is all my fault

Just ignore Negitive comments from your family then, sit down with then explain he comes to your more because you spend nearly all of your time with him, Your training him and you would love some help with training him and maybe draw up a chart on who does what with him when?

You defo all need to sit down and have a really good chat, Mika's going to be the one who suffers if hes ignored by you or the other family memebers

I know it must be hard for you to be the brunt of it all,but if they dont want to sit down and chat or make the effort then let them. As long as it doesnt effect Mika then sod them.x

Re: Maybe it is all my fault

I have read this thread and others related to it and have resisted the urge to post to it but i feel I have to join in the discussion. I know your sister is 24 but how old are you? How long have you had Mika and how long has it been since you lost Woody? I really feel sorry for poor Mika living amongst all this turmoil. Who made the decision to buy MIka as I think you said before it was a family dog.

i really shouldnt be using the forums at work but this whole subject has upset me and i want it resolved - if i have to get psychatric help for me the family and the dogs i will do it!

Pamela 1 I am 29 - god im old .
2 We bought Mika 2 months after Woody passed away....so it would make it a total of 5 months.
3 The family as in me mum and my sisters made the decision to buy the dog. Dad was out of the decision because he didn't want a dog after woody died, but we had to get one for the sake of Dante's temper! He's accepted him though

Re: Maybe it is all my fault

Hi, is there anyone close to you that you can talk to about the situation with your family? I really think you need to be able to talk about whats going on with your life as I said before I don't think sorting the issue re Mika is going to resolve all your problems at home.

Also is moving out an option for you at the moment? I really think its doing nothing for your self esteem being in this kind of environment. Your family needs help but I dont think they will agree so please help yourself.

I agree, you really need a friend, a proper friend who doesn't just agree with all you say but cares for you and your welfare

I wish I was as old as you! Unfortunately I am over half way there to being that age again.

Three things struck me about your post:
1. You sound depressed and you really need to talk to someone outside the situation; forums are great but they are no substitute for talking through your problems with the right person. Rona is right, you need a friend or, failing that, a counsellor.
2. You sound a bit like my daughter when you say you have always been a problem to your family. She feels like that but we don't really feel like that about her. We do, however, find we tread very carefully with her because she is easily upset and that makes us seem a little stand-offish. It sometimes feels like a Catch 22 situation but one thing never changes; we really do love her. I am sure it is the same with your family.
3. The natural progression for adults is to find their own way in life away from their parents and siblings; distance really does help you love them more!

Good luck!
