What Is The Daily Amount Of Exercise A Dog Requires
I am unsure as to the amount of time I should be spending walking my STB Duke. During the week I spend between 1 to 2 hours per evening. Weekends its usual between 2 to 3 hours. Unless I allow Duke to lead me then we are only out about an 1 to 1 and a half hours.
Yesterday I planned a route across the countryside, we walked for 5 and a half hours. I cut the walk short by half an hour and called into to my parents. Dad couldn't believe where we had walked considering Duke still had an abundance of energy, I was completed knackered (still am) ![]() Can anyone advise please. Sue |

Re: What Is The Daily Amount Of Exercise A Dog Requires
Hi Sue,
Staffies are usually pretty easy with excercise we have always found, they will go as far as you want and are happy with as little as you want. Care needs to be taken with pups under 12 months old as damage can be done to joints so the general rule is 5 mins to every month of age. Average on lead walk about an 1-2 hrs and whatever your happy with off lead.

Re: What Is The Daily Amount Of Exercise A Dog Requires
He really does love the fire and like now he is waiting patiently for the cat to move away from the fire he is pushed right up to my hubby's legs getting petted, he loves that too.
I have been brought up with various pedigree breeds all have their own loveable traits, I'm not sure what it is with Duke but he has a quality I have never come across before, I can't say it's a Staffie trait because he's the only one I have owned. The love he receives he returns 10 fold. I wouldn't be without him and I just need to be sure he is getting everything he needs. Many thanks and a happy Easter to you and all forum members and their families. Sue |
