The interval between the first series of booster vaccinations should be between 3 and 4 weeks because vaccines can interfere with each other; upon infection with the vaccine virus, cells increase interferon production. Therefore, if the second vaccine is given within a week to ten days, it will fail. Delays longer than 8 weeks should be avoided.

I think it might be an idea to take your vets advice which will be based on manufacturers recommendations, rather than what you personally believe. If you want to differ then that is up to you and risk a failed vaccine but I am not sure it is a very valid point to make on here.
As for the socialising aspect, well you were describing someone near you who carried young pups around, not the person on the bus. And if she put the pup down and it was scared and she then immediately picked it up then I assume she was aware of her own mistake and put it right. It might not be what everyone would do but how else is the pup going to learn and why shouldnt she take it around with her rather than leaving it at home.

Re: 9 week old Jack Russell....

Fair comment on the socialization thread Blitz, and I apolygize it I jumped in with all guns blazing.

With regard to the vaccination thread I would love to have discussion regarding these on maybe another thread at some time, as I do think that many vets are changing their opinions slightly on vaccs at the moment, I would definately NOT take our older vets advice regarding these though ' as he is 'old school' and to me has tunneled vision that will never change , plus he is deaf in one ear and and sometimes it's difficult to take to him. I am however seeing our younger vet this afternoon ( if he has time), I have had many conversations with him and shall try and raise the subject if the moment arises,, but do not want to appear too forceful voicing my opinions with him as we are quite good friends and I would hate to spoil that.

Re: 9 week old Jack Russell....

Not everyone has a car and has to travel by buses.

May be the lady with the pup was taking him to the Vets to have his vaccination.

When I lived in London, I had to take my pup to the vets by bus for her vaccinations. She is still here 12 years later lol (laugh out loud)

nice apology, thanks Isnt the comment about the vet being deaf in one ear racist or something I think the vets are quite tied by the drug companies recommendations though.

Very true - me and my dog used to travel by bus and he would be on it before I was! he loved it... however, she said that she was just taking him around the town...

Re: 9 week old Jack Russell....

Its better to take the pup out early as long as you dont put the pup on the floor, socialising it is very important between 7 and 12 weeks is there cricitcal period of development and the more place the pup goes and sees the chance you will not have a nervouse dog busy traffice men walking with sticks suppermarket so it can see trolley might sound daft but its true well in my eyes it is, sometimes we rap them in cotton wool they should see the world and not be afraid of things like big buses

Re: 9 week old Jack Russell....

Totally agree with them being socialised and not wrapping them in cotton wool... Prevents issues later in life with them. I just didn't agree with the pup being on the floor, it could have cought anything.

I'm not a JR person, but this one was very cute
