Dogs For Sale

I totally understand that some peoples situations change and it only fair to let their dogs go but i must admit how shocked i am at the amount of dogs (and i mean 1/2/3 years old and older that should be established family members) that are sold on! there is always lots in our local paper! i was bought up that when you bought a dog or pet it was for life! just wondered what everyone else thought?

Re: Dogs For Sale

It shocks me how people buy a "pure breed" with no papers, then when it turns out not to be a "pure breed" months down the line, when you can really begin to tell, they just want rid of it and sell it on. How can people be so dense and how can you not get attached in that time?

i would never sell on a pet,
my crystal had 2 litters now she's 10 nearly. and a lot of people who breed i know dont sell on their dogs.
thats only mainly the people who are out to make money, who sell on bitches to old to breed from.

Re: Dogs For Sale

What i meant was if someone was a serious breeder and they kept every dog/cat when he/she was retired they would have loads! as long as the animal is neautered/spayed and a new home carefully chosen, surely it would be in the animals best interest to be in a one to one environment, rather than a number in a kennel?

Re: Dogs For Sale

i just feel everything is so throw away these days! i was looking through the pet ads in our local paper and there is no end of dogs and cats for sale, i dont understand how ya can have a pet 5 years then decide to sell it! i could never let ours go they are part of the family. i understand people have changes in there life like losing a job ect but i cant help but feel when people say their circumstances have changed and they havent got time anymore its just a get out clause!

one of the people i know still keep all the dogs they use for breeding at one point they had about 20 dogs ok most were all the old ones but they kept them to live out their life at their home they were raised or born in.
as they say they gave us joy when they were pups and helped to breed some good pups and are part of our rather large family including the horse's and other animals they have.

if your willing to sell a bitch or dog which has come to the end of the breeding age then your in it for the money.

I agree. Our cats are ill, their mum died shortly after they were born and the owner just dumped the kittens on the RSPCA as she couldn't be bothered to try hand rearing them, because they've taken months to get better my gran seems to think we should take them back and get different ones!?! What the hell? I could never do that, they're a part of our family not dodgy corn flakes! We had a lodger a few years ago and when she moved out she just left her dog with us! Its unbelievable how heartless some people are!

I agree,im not saying i think this is right! its just that people who are in it for the money tend to not put the dogs welfare first,so surely a dog being rehomed from such a place is having a lucky escape! and being elsewhere would be better than living out its days alone in a dingy kennel or something! It gets another chance.
