It is extremely ignorant to believe ALL dogs will harm a child when left alone with one, because not ALL dogs are ill natured around small children. But that is not to say all dogs aren't capable of harming a child, I did not say that! If you know your dog well enough, like I know mine, it should be quite obvious whether they are trustworthy or not.

Although, a child is less likely to be murdered or attacked by a dog, than it is to be murdered or attacked by its fellow human. If I had a child and a well natured dog in the family, I would sooner leave the child with the dog than a child-minder.

Do you have someone that actually agrees with you on this? You could set up a society or something?

On what? My last sentance? You think more children are killed by dogs than by people?? I've only ever heard about at the most, 7 cases where children have been hurt by dogs. People hurting children, ah now thats a different matter. Humans are the worst thing to have evolved! How about the little girl who was found the other day, Shannon, do you think a dog did that to her? No. How about little Madaline? Does a dog have her?? No. Are their dogs going round right this minute commiting, physical and sexual abuse on tiny children in the world???? Ooooo NO!

You see, some dogs are ok with children. My gf's family had a Chihuahua from about three yrs before she was born until she was about 8 or 9 I think. I've seen a really cute home video of her around a month or so old on a bed and little Snobby jumping around her, sniffing her and licking her. She was giggling and having great fun with him. At that age, her parents were certainly around her. As she got older, she would walk him round where they lived and as he got older he got more grumpier and her dad would tease him by locking him in the kitchen cupboards. Snobby couldn't stand my gf's dad, but adored her. She would take him up to her room as a little girl and read to him, even though he was never aloud upstairs. As he got older, he lost his sight and once got out, ending up about 2-3 miles away from where they lived! Luckily the police found him and brought him home again. My gf was obviously distraught knowing he was getting old and blind and they never thought he would come back alive. She nursed him when he was dying, they put him on the patio in his basket and my gf gave him water and talked to him, read him his "favourite book". She would sit there all day, every day with him nursing him. The moment he passed away, she had come indoors for something and her mum called from outside that he wasn't look good. She said she'd be a minute but it was too late, he'd already gone.

Like I said, Snobs was with her from when she was born until she was about 8 or 9. A Chihuahua can still give a child a nasty bite, but he never laid his teeth on my gf while she was growing up. Now her dad, like I said, he couldn't stand him and would go for him any chance he got.

I keep saying this. It isn't all dogs that shouldn't be left with children, its just some. As long as you know your dog is good with children and your child is sensible, then you shouldn't have a problem and I am not saying anything that isn't true.

Cavvy your post can be so ridiculous its embarrasing to read. It seems that you dont have much of a grip on reality.
Dogs dont think like humans therefore you cannot read them like you can a human.
A dog cant tell you if its getting pi**ed off with a child so it reacts the only way its instinct tells it to.
Im not going to go into it too much as I feel its a waste of time.
The bottom line is: Even if someone thinks their dog is 100% trustworthy around children, it is not worth the risk! Get it? The risk!
