Raw Food Diet

How many of you feed your dogs a raw food diet?

If you do what are the benefits you've seen?

If you don't what is that puts you off the idea?

I'm putting my dog on a all natural raw food diet as from Monday. Would be interesting to see other peoples opinion on the subject.

Re: Raw Food Diet

Only feed commercial due to the fact that we have too many dogs and the storage would be an issue.

Re: Raw Food Diet

all 3 of mine have a mix or both.
4 days of the week they have their normal dried food, the other 3 they have raw.
Mainly mince, chicken, kidney, liver, green tripe.
They also have oily fish (mackrel, sardines etc).

Re: Raw Food Diet

I started my two on raw food only 8 weeks ago. Now they eat slower, dont fart (at least not noticeably), have shinier coats and cleaner teath. It also costs me less so i'm happy

Yeah, we went to the butchers today to stock up and I was shocked at how little it cost me for over a weeks worth it was only just over £10, I thought it would be more expensive than feeding dried food!

I got 5 portions of chicken, 2.7kg (i think) of beef mince and loads of liver and kidneys (alot more than I wanted, oops) I've already got some stuff from tescos too so I can vary the meats he gets each day.

Re: Raw Food Diet

The butchers section of Leeds Market sells off trays of meat after 4.00pm on Saturday really cheap. I also buy fish for him. I must admit I always cook it.

I tend to use fresh meat as a supplement not as his only food source. I don't understand nutritional food values so I use well known animal brands of dry food and sachets.

I used flora to hide his tablets, it made life easier and I discovered flora improved the condition of his coat.
