Smile im stuck... :)

hello everyone i have just joined this forum as a way to help find out information on a few different breeds of dogs so far i have been very attracted to huskies, dobermans and german shepherds...but i am open to other suggestions. i am a very active person as am a keen outdoor enthusiasts, *there aren't to many sports i haven't given a go at!!! * and so i am looking for a dog that is able to reflect my kind of lifestyle.

i have done research on these breeds *manly the husky!! * but i find that a lot of websites can be very biased by saying that 'this particular breed is the best' so i am looking manly for people that have had different dogs and can honestly say what they are like.

all information would be gratefully appreciated.

cheers pete

Raindog is the best member to speak to re Huskies. He is certainly not biased and will tell you the good and the bad. He has replied to quite a few posts re thsi breed. If you try the search at top of page you may find them whilst you wait on him replying

Re: im stuck... :)

Hiya and welcome,

Wow what a great line up to chose from.

Sure you will get some avice on here. I have a cocker so not really your type but i love German Sheps and dobermans and huskies. Not much use at all am i.

What about time etc. It would really help if you could give some more details of your life. Are you out at work, will the dog be left, previous experience, that sort of thing.

Some breeds are better than others at being left, some easier to handle etc

Hello

Hope you find the best dog for your lifestyle.
Love all the dogs you are looking at,Huskies are one of my favs.
How about a labrador or a border collie they love the outdoor life.
But there are lots of others that do too.
Good luck on your search.

Re: im stuck... :)

if youve researched huskies you probably know they have a few traits which some people may find "undesirable" eg they are very keen hunters, love digging up the garden!! training them can be a challenge as they get quickly bored with repetative commands, they have a very determined nature! & really should never be allowed off lead in an unsecure area. They are a wonderful breed but not the easiest & certainly not for everybody

well i am defiantly one that is attracted by looks!! and well i have done a bit of research and seen that they are all very energetic, i like the huskie as i luv skiing and snow and would one day hope to live in canada, but i have always ready that sibes aren't really meant to be let off lead due to the running instinct, and i am for one that would like to play fetch with a tennis ball... not much of a game when the dog can only run the length of the lead !!

and so i sore the GSD and i have known a few people that have had them and i think they are amazing dogs that have similarities to the husky,

and mum was joking around and mentioned the doberman, which tbh i didn't no much about so after a few evenings of research became my top 3 XD!!

cheers again pete!
