Re: who to look after new mum and pups

I'd love to be able to reschedule holiday, but working agreements don't cater for this. I'd also like to say I don't mind losing money - but more than £1000 is a lot to lose! I maybe wasn't clear in my intentions - one daughter is staying in my house for half the week and another daughter for rest of week, so mum and pups won't be left alone, and Floss knows both of them - it's not a lot of different people popping in and out. Not that this will make a difference, I suppose - most replies are against us going. I'm in real quandary!

Re: who to look after new mum and pups

If your dog is happy with your daughters then I'd say go on the holiday but do make sure they have been around with the dog every day before you go away - two reasons so your girl is used to them and they realise how much work they've got coming

Pity you can't reschedule your holiday but so be it and unfortunate that your girl decided that she wanted to have puppies which I am guessing was not in your plans. Enjoy your holiday and I won't say don't worry because you will, but do your best to

Sorry to quote myself here but you didn't answer my question. It's extreamly important that you advise the rescue! Or was is a pound dog or a private rehoming?

Flossmum - was your girl pregnant when you rescued her, if so, the rescue should help out. Hopefully there will be people involved with the rescue with experience with whelping as there is considerable risk to your girl, especially as I assume you don't know her background/health as a rescue.

Hi. Thanks for your comments, and follow-up post. Yes, we were told that she might be pregnant when we rehomed her, but to be honest, we were so excited at having her that the holiday went straight out of our minds, and until last Tuesday we didn't know she was definitely pregnant - she hardly showed at all. The rescue centre did offer to take her, but they would have kept her for 6 weeks, and we didn't want to leave her that long - she's had a traumatic enough time! So we've cancelled the holiday.
