Hi guys does anyone know how much raw beef is ok per feed for a 12 month old lab ??? Ive got a good organic butcher near me and he does beef off cuts from his organic meat for the dogs , ive bought some and they love it i have given it them raw defrosted mixed with raw carrot and courgete , ive done this now for the last couple of weekends and they love it , no problem with there tummy either would like to go all natural eventually but for now the weekend is fine . It costs me 50p per pound and is nice looking stuff not all fat and gristle lots of meat.So how much per feed do you recon ???

Well i feed my EBTs around 400g of meat a day each
Thats with a small amount of mixer aswell mind!

It depends on the dog but from what I can work out from researching on the internet a dogs diet should be about 80% meat. I can't find anything that actually gives an amount of raw food to feed for different breeds.

Luckily my dog won't eat more than he needs so we give him 250g of raw meat a day and leave his biscuits down all day. Like you I want him to go on a totally natural diet and will probably give him 500g of raw meat a day suplimented with vegetables etc. I think it will just be a case of keeping an eye on him. If he loses some weight give a little extra and if he puts some weight on give a little less.

Thanx for that Alan i guess i cant go wrong with 250 g of raw mixed with veg . Trying to keep thier weight down at the moment Jess is still a little over what she should be she needs to lose about 3 kilo her old owners dint show much care when feeding her . Daisy on the other hand needs to be about 28 kilo so about a kilo to lose they are both due to be spayed in april so dont want weight issues with the op .

Hi all i was just flicking through some of the posts regarding food for our canine friends when i noticed that there is a large proportion of animal owners that now understand that a lot of commercial pet food is actually bad for our pets.
What i don't see yet is the understanding about raw food and how it should be varied. Giving a lump of raw beef, lean at that every day is not what is needed. Meat should come complete with bone and fat and meat cuts should be varied, heart, liver,lungs and fish if you can what ever you can get. This will provide the balance of minerals and vitamins needed.

That post dates back to march , since then i have researched raw feeding and i can put your ,mind at ease that i am feeding correctly , using a varied source of protien , and bone , and raw eggs , fish , veg pulp , natural yogurt , all the goodies , i even now make my own liver treats .
