Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

I like jack russell's now as i will not be beaten by fear of dog's anymore.
I actually saved a JRT life the other day.
It lives along our road and it got out yet again bless.
Wonders over to our back gate to visit.
So later i went out and looked to see if he got home ok.
No he ran nearly straight out in front of a car,so me stopped all the traffic, nearly getting killed myself.
Then i sat for half an hour in the cold, with a cold waiting for the owners to come home on their doorstep.
They did not appear so my OH tied him up gave him food and water and checked on him.
The owners finally arrived home and the dog was reunited.

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

I ws bitten by a golden retreiver. My fault completely for not realisng he would be stressed... his 80yr old owner died, he was with her 2 days before someone realised.. spent the night with neighbours before his usual dog walker came, and contacted me via my pet shop.

Took him home and my roxy was on heat. The golden was also about 6 and fat. There was most likely some spilled treats in a drawer under my bed. Goldie was harassing my Roxy and I took his collar to take him intot eh other room, he turned and attacked me.

I needed stitches on my right hand and a dressing on my left. I also fainted! Lol

I lost my confidence with him and sought the help of a friend who got the dog on a diet and a good home.
I have always been slightly wary of goldens since, but they are beautiful dogs.

I got bit on the nose by a mastif x- my fault I was out drinking and this dog wa a bit hyper, I crouched down to speak to him and he puppy nipped me. I can remeber it hurt and I was drunk so it must have hurt a bit! Lol!

x

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

years ago I had a chihuahua, Katie was 9 weeks old and so so tiny, she liked bing up on the couch, so I put an upturned box for her to use as a stool. One night, she thought she was bigger than she really was and jumped over the box....I heard her bones break, but didn't realize what it was so I went to reach for her and she bit a hole right through my thumb and nail. Wasn't her fault though, she broke her radius and Ulna so I would have bitten too

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

I was bitten by a Jack russell when I was about 5 (cant really remember how old I was) the dog was deaf and I went up behind it when it was eating, touched its back and it jumped round and bit my thump, took the nail clean off lol. My dad promptly kicked it down some stairs (dont worry it was fine). Was a nasty little dog, was so fat it was square and wouldnt let my nan sleep in the same bed as my grandad lol.
Never affected how I felt towards dogs though, not scared of them at all. I love em

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

jack russel, labrador, chihuahua, gummed by an elderly mini schnauzer, staffy, border collie and an old english sheepdog.

All from dogs that were either in the vets (i worked as a saturday assistant for years as a teenager), or at the rescue i volunteer for. The worst was the old english, that required 6 stitches. The dog was in rescue, and so matted, he had severe skin infections, open ulcers, and the worst case of ear mites and ear infections I have ever seen. He had 3 anaesthetics to start treatment but even then until his ears were beginning to clear he had to be held with a dog pole so another person could approach, muzzle him and do his ears, the one holding the pole wasnt paying attention and he got me. The personality change that went through him once his ears were under controll was amazing and he is a beautiful lovely gentle dog now!

I did once see a big powerful mastiff have a go at a vet too, vet was bent down listenig to his heart. Mastiff decided he didnt like it - vet needed 30 stitches and the mastiff was in such extreme heart failure he promptly died after attacking! - very sad for both.

Poorly dogs can be unpredictable and I certainly dont blame an ill dog for its bad behaviour!

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

Boxer dog - had been wound up by owners playing with it, went for a few other kids and bit a chunk out of my arm, still got the scars.

GSD X - with an owner lying on a beach towel 100 yards off, letting her dog do what the hell it liked, I got inbetween it and my friend who was frightened of dogs, and it went for me.

Rottweiler - on the face, luckily I moved quickly! My fault, it was a 'family pet/guard dog', and I bent down and stuck my face in the way.

Re: Have you ever been bitten and by what?

I was bitten by a gsd (guard dog), the owner had opened the gates and said "drive straight in", what he didn't say was "stay in your car till I lock the guard dog up". Still got the nice scar on my leg. If it counts I used to get bitten a hell of a lot by a certain cute white gsd puppy, till he grew out of it.
