Re: Online Breed Questionnaires
I did that questionnaire last night because I'm interested in adopting a "girlfriend" for my little boy lol, and yep, it was completely useless as it doesn't narrow it down much
![]() Your best bet is to just search for a good dog breeds website and read through each and every breeds needs, but then again you shouldn't believe that one breed will be all the same. For instance, one Westie is not going to be like the next. You really need to look into how the individual dog itself will be able to cope with things, not just the breed. My friend has a Westie, he's a gorgeous little guy but has trouble being left alone for even short periods of time. Whereas a neighbour of mine has a Westie also, and she can be left all day while her owners are at work. I think to be honest, reading your other thread, you and your family would benefit going to a decent rescue, all together (brother an'all ) and a dog will be matched to you and your lifestyle. It's how a dog rescue I used to work for did things. We took information about the people/family and the way they lived, what they were looking for, etc, and dogs were matched to them.Really hope you find the perfect dog for you and your family! ![]()

Re: Online Breed Questionnaires
I found them all quite useless when I was first looking to getting my dog, it was soon after my house rabbit had passed away, so we brought some books and as we had a great vet we went and spoke to her. We were thinking spaniel, and she not only was able to advise us shelltie but put us in to connact with a sheltie breader she has a patient (well her dogs are). It was great as we were able to get a puppy that our vet had already seen.
It would be usefull as well to speak to your local vet, that way you get an idea of costs - vacciations etc. also can advise you what puppy farms are in your area you should steer clear from. |
