Re: Dodgy Docking
There are many tails that I would say were docked 'dodgy'!!!! but I have seen a couple of dogs that I would have sworn were docked 'dodgy' only to be assured they were done by a vet. Vets use different methods so I believe - and the tails I refer to had be cauterized , they filled up with puss everyday!

Re: Dodgy Docking
Ah true, though what gets me is the scar about half a inch below where his tail is docked? could have been a dodgy dock it then it could have just been a vet's first dock? it's a pity I will never know

Re: Dodgy Docking
aws poor las, barney has no problem's me touching his tail or the scar, it's a shame really docking a tail when they are just going to be for a pet or show dog (although docking for health reasons is understandable also).

Re: Dodgy Docking
When docking was legal, some vets where unsure of the length of tail to leave on certain breeds hence a few breeders I know of docked themselves
They would either use elastic bands or clip off with miller forge type clipper (used for clipping pet nails and beaks) which crush rather than slice so as to seal the stump and minimise bleeding.Sorry but I am soo glad that docking is now done a lot less! |
