Re: Advice
Hi Richard
I assume by sheep dogs you mean border collies. If you have never had a collie before you need to think long and hard about this. I have 3 collies and they are a fantastic breed but they need a lot of work to keep them occupied. You could be lucky and get one that is quite laid back or you may get one that needs to be busy and can be very ott.
It's the need to work that makes them a popular breed to use in obedience and agility. They have to use their brains to keep them happy. Although it is assumed they are easy to train they can have a mind of their own and they will pick up bad habits as quickly as good. They are also bred to herd sheep which means they have bags of energy they need to use up.
There are alot of sites on the internet that can give you more detailed insight into this breed. If this is the breed you were refering to it would pay you to really research this breed as sadly there are lots of collies looking to be re-homed as they have proved to be too much for their owners to handle.
Good luck with whatever breed you choose
Yvonne
