Hi everyone

Have put Sonnys collar on today for the first time. He coping OK with it, although keeps scratching - probably as it feels strange to him.

Do you keep there collars on all of the time now, or just a bit everyday until they get used to it? Also should I leave it on through the night?

I took Oscars off at night.

You definately should if they are in a crate as they can get caught up.

mine only wear theirs when out/if I'm out the front where there is the potential to disappear.....

I take Ambers off at night, but as he still a puppy as long as in the house I'd just leave it on for a while and then take it off. But if his in and out of the garden I'd leave it on.

i leave Zebs on all day, and night although hes not created

My dogs in the past (well parents) have always had them on from day one till they got new ones, I'd check his every few days for growth though as hes like a weed lol

Mine never wear a collar in the house, but I would build up the time they first wear it in the house to get used to them. Once they associate them with going out and having fun they seem to like them.

as soo as my babies are old enough to walk about i put kitten collars on my babies safety ones then when it comes to collar time they don't have a problem with it

Well have kept it on since I first posted, and he has got the serious hump with me now!!

He has retired to his crate and can't be tempted out with any toys or cuddles - he just glares at me as if to say "p*** off - you've put this horrible thing around my neck!"

He has resulted to rolling all over the floor to try and get it off. Am going to give him another hour and then take it off for the night, but back on tomorrow until he gets used to it.

I take mine off at night,except for ellie, who wears a magnetic collar all day, and only a normal collar when she goes out!!! Your puppy will get used to it, just ignore him, once he realises what its for, he will accept it, and relate to good things happen when he wears it.

mine keep them on all the time
