Drooling

Does anyone know why a dog drools?
I know that most do when there is food about but Alf sometimes drools when out for a walk, not all the time but occasionally. I also took him to work today and had him lying on his bed, his nose was up sniffing the air and he was drooling quite badly, there was no food around at all.

Re: Drooling

I remember reading something relating to drooling recently but cannot for the life of me remember what.
Assuming the drooling is not excessive and there is not food about another cause is stress!

Mine drool with strenious exercise.
