Mother and son

Hi, i have a mum and am keeping her son. I know male and females go together well but does anyone have experience of teh mother son thing into adulthood.

Will he always be dependant on her emotionally?

I am taking him to ringcraft and hope to show him so we will have seperate activities but i just wandered if having a mother and son was a different dimension from just unrelated male and female.

Re: Mother and son

Just treat him the same as you would a different puppy coming ino the house, make sure he bonds to you, give them time apart, I know alot of other people on here have kept pups from their litter, so I don't think its going to be a problem

Re: Mother and son

I have a mother and son here and they still cuddle up now and again but not very often, when she comes in season she's just another bitch in his eyes. I don't think it really bothers them to be honest, infact I have now kept a second dog pup fromt he same bitch and he's the same will cuddle up with her now and again but he does that with all the girls, again you will just have to watch when his mum comes in to season again.

take care

Sarah

Re: Mother and son

my mum kept mother and son. they will get on fine but you do need to have him done cause he will treat her like any other when it comes to her being in season. i think its lovely keeping a puppy youve breed ya self from you own girl. think its more rewarding

Re: Mother and son

Thanks, that's great info.

Her coming into season wont be an issue as i plan to have her spayed. she didnt have an easy time with the birth and ended up having a c-section as had no natural contractions after 4 oxytocin injections.

My breeding days are done so i couldnt let the whole litter go.....
