Unhappy ear infection?...

hi, yesterday i noticed teddy had a strange smell abou thim and noticed it coming from his ear. When i looked in it was brown and dirty so i cleaned it with a bit of warm salt water. Today its back and the smell is worse, he is tilting his head and scratching at it and keeps shaking his head.

I know this is an infection and needs to be vet treated and i will be taking him first this in the morning but does anyone know what i can do in the mean time to make it easier on my poor lil guy? is claening it with salty water again a good idea or will i do more harm that good?

Whoops should of posted in the Health section, can it be moved?

Re: ear infection?...

Will be just fine to use warm salt water or even plain and a bit of cotton wool to wipe out if you havent got any ear wipes before you get to the vet.

Could be ear mites but as you said more than likely infection.

One of my boys suffers from this on and off in both ears due to close ear canal flaps. I use Oticyl ear cleaner to first clean out and then a couple of drops of Canural, both from the vets and usually clears it up but if I run out occasionally I have just used water and cotton wool.

Re: ear infection?...

Yeah definately an ear infection, its as if you are never ending in cleaning the ear and more wax comes back. You would be better to take it to the vet and get stronger ear drops to get rid of it.
