Is my dog a Pure Pug or X?

Hiya,

I was sold my Pug as a pure pug and i saw both parents, and to me both looked like pugs. I know his ears arent black and this is why he was the last one as nobody wanted him due to this.
A few people have asked me if he is a cross and i am now beginning to wonder? It doesnt matter to me if he is or isnt as i love him, just wanted anyones opinion.

This is him as puppy

This is him now

Hope i have attached them ok, as first time.

Lea

Hi Lea........ I would say that one of his parents would have been a pug cross........ he has mostly pug qualities but there looks like there is definitely something else there in the line .............. he is absolutely delightful and it's good to hear you love him come what may............ is it a sad fact that there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there, who take advantage of peoples trust.........give him a big puggy hug from me and all my puggies xxx

I don't know myself but whatever his breeding is he's an adorable little cutie!

I like pugs, they look like cheeky little monkeys!

He's a sweetie - I would not like to comment not knowing a lot about the breed - but see that someone with knowledge has replied.
Did the breeder sell him as 100% pug - if so you may have some comeback - I know you are not bothered but breeders should never be allowed to get away with such deceipt.

Re: Is my dog a Pure Pug or X?

Thanks everyone! I look at him and do think the same, it made me think it more when i saw a picture of a 3/4 pug puppy on internet and it was spits of Pugsley when he was a pup and that puppy had jack russel in him.

I wonder if he has got something else in him, what it is??

He was sold to me as 100% Pug i did ask this question to the breeder as it was over 250 miles away. I have got a receipt for him, he didnt come with papers which wasnt an issue for me as i just wanted him as a pet.

you really love your dog and say it doen't matter to you which is great. But I don't think that breeders should be allowed to get away with such behaviour

Re: Is my dog a Pure Pug or X?

I'm certainly no expert, but I have looked at lots of Pugs recently, and I don't think his face is as wrinkly or his muzzle as squashed in as most i've seen.

This is only my opinion, it's hard to tell when you go to see them as little pups isn't it, they can change so much, I can't believe how much Ruby has altered since I got her, I thought she had some pug in her at first.

I think your right, his father was a stunning pug and was kc registered but his mother wasnt kc registered and the breeder said she was not a nice looking pug. To me his mother looked like a pug but she may have been a cross.

Pugsley sends lots og puggy hugs to all your puggies x
