Is this a problem or not

HI as some of you know I have been excited about picking up sox a 1yr old lab x collie at the weekend. Now I have been in touch via e-mail and facebook with her current owner, but she now says that she might not be there when I go to pick sox up and that a friend will be there to see me. I am not sure if I should be worried about this. Her reason was that she will be sad to see her baby go, which I undersand but shouldn't she want to see me and make sure she is happy giving her to me if she loves her so much, and shouldnt I see her. I don't know if I am just borrowing problems, or if I should speak to her and say that I would prefer to see her. Any thought and advice appriciated xx lisa xx

Hmm, it does sound a little odd, especialy if she hasn't met you before. I know I would personally want to meet who I was giving my dog up to. But maybe she geuinely will find it too difficult to see her dog going to someone else.

Re: Is this a problem or not

I can understand why she would not want to be there when you pick up the dog, I let my Ex OH meet the people who took Ffionne and Leigha.
What is important is that the dog is in good health and not aggressive and you are 100% sure you want to take on this responsibility.
Good Luck!

Re: Is this a problem or not

Sounds a load of rubbish really, she's still going to have to say good bye to it even when passing it to her firend, so passing it to you wont be any different.
How old is the dog?
You want to be sure that you have all her details and are able to at least recognise her in person should anything unforseen in the future happen.
Why does she want to get rid of it in the first place and if she does want to get rid of it (for whatever reason) she should realise that the new owner wants to know who they are dealing with.
Your obviously concerned enough to ask advice on this which spells to me that your concerned about taking the dog on. Tell her this and that its putting you off. If shes genuine shell accomodate you.
Its always useful to know who the owner of any one dog is

Re: Is this a problem or not

Have you even spoken to his woman on the phone or has it all been done via the internet? I'd be highly worried about it, I'm afraid I find it very hard to believe someone that loves their dogs would let them go to someone they'd not met let alone not spoken to!!!!!!!

Re: Is this a problem or not

Hi thanks for ur advice, sox is 1yr oldthe reason she is giving her up is that she has split from her long term partner and is having to move from her house to a small flat or appartment can't remember which. I have contact with her on hacebook and have seen pics of her on there. She said that she is passing on all her papers and vet stuff. She was fine last week, has had a bed weekend re the ex and now seems offish. I will e-mail her with my concerns and see what she says. Like said by others she may be genuinly upset to see her go but I am just not sure thats her reason. But I also know that I am paranoid that something is going to happen and I won't end up with her so maybe this os whats worryingme more, I have waited so long for a pup. xx lisa xx
