Unhappy Nell has Arthritis

Took Nell to the Vets today as her injury to her right paw/shoulder was not clearing up, I just thought it was muscle strain but it turns out to be the dreaded Arthritis looks like she will be on medication every day now to ease the pain, poor thing

Re: Nell has Arthritis

My old dog had it for a number of years before we lost her. It is managable with pain killers and regular check up's at the vet to manage the dosage. But our dog still had a good life and managed well. You may even find Nell has a new lease of life on the painkillers.

Re: Nell has Arthritis

Amber has Arthritis and the vet put her on some tablets. a friend of mine said her dog has Vitzermin (sorry not such how it's spell) Flexible Joint, you can get them in 2 strengths we gave Amber the lower one. So we tried them and they worked, I told the vet what I was doing and he said good if they are working let her have them, then we can put her on medication when they stop working. She was on them for about 2 years, now she has Colitis and has to have a special diet, she can't have Flexible Joint or any medication as they contain fish oils etc. and the Vet said they will up set her Colitis, which is the last thing we want.

Amber is nearly 11 years old, but at the moment whether it's food she it having, but it's like having a 40kg puppy charging around the house.

Re: Nell has Arthritis

The vet has given Nell "Carprofen" anti-inflams.
Nell hurt her leg/shoulder at xmass which has aggrevated the joints, so now she has a permanent limp, the vet said she has arthritis in all her joints , he said there is a special diet that would help her joints?? sounded expensive? I have to take her back in a fortnight so any advice on arthritis appreciated

Didn't think vets were still using that. It's Rymadil.
