Insurance query

Hi. I am new here, so not sure if anyone has asked a question along these lines before. I have just received my new insurance papers from Petplan. They have hiked my annual rate by almost 30% from £35 to £44 per month. Is this usual for pet insurance? It strikes me as an unacceptably large increase. They justified it by saying that it was due to inflation [????] and vets having doubled their fees. Mine hasn't....

Thanks
Rubyrocket - the little westie

Re: Insurance query

How old is you dog - insurance seems to spiral when they reach 7 or 8 - guess it's because they know that it is getting too late to move elsewhere

Re: Insurance query

Hi. Thanks for the replies. She's only 14 months! They've had to pay out a few times for her this year [but not very much as the excess is £100] , but told me at some point this wouldn't mean the premiums would go up.

They've also slapped an impossible exclusion on the policy which they could use to block payment, if they choose to. [too complex to go into here].

What I really want to know is how unusual is it for premiums to increase so much.

Re: Insurance query

Mine has only gone up 25% over 5 years and I've made loads of claims.

Thats brilliant Sherlock - who are you with - I'm with AXA with one - and thats gone ul like the op's my other is with Argos.

To the OP - that sounds unreasonable for such a young dog - if I were you I would look at some alternatives.
