Re: The FURminator

My mum has just bought one for her choccy lab!! She would never every spend that sort of money on something that doesn't work so it must be good!!! She swears by it and says it's reduced her hoovering masses!!! It didn't do much on my staffie crosses or my poodle x (well he doesn't shed anyway) but I know my mate has one for GSD!

Re: The FURminator

For anyone that hasn't seen one:

FURminator

It states that it removes the undercoat. Now as I understand it that is the coat that helps stop a dog getting cold through wind chill or through being wet. If this coat is removed surely that removes their insulation or am I way off target?

Re: The FURminator

Wow! The video on the site is amazing! And all the pics of animals that have had it used on them, looks great! Shame I cant use it on Pippin...dont think it would work...

I see your point about it taking out the bit that keeps them warm, not to sure about that!

Re: The FURminator

My mother bought me one last year, it's ok for fairly light coats like our chessie but on my goldie it get caught up in his fur.
He's not too keen on grooming anyway and certainly not with this.

Re: The FURminator

Hi
I am a dog groomer and yes know of the Furminator. It is a more usable version of the shedding blade. It is fantastic to remove dead hair in short coated breeds like labradors, pugs and smooth coats. It doesnt work on the undercoat, you need a rake for that it works on short coats only - no particularly useful for golden retrievers or long hair as it will break the coat.

Worth every penny dependant on your breed.........

Re: The FURminator

i use the FURminator on my GSDs .......wow its good
you do have to be careful as you can get a bit carried away and end up with a bald dog lmao....

never press too hard just go with the flow ..

always brush in the direction of the hair..

unclog it after each stroke..

make sure the dog is clean and completely dry first..

never use it on a dog that has a dry/brittle coat..

and don't go over the same spot over and over again like i did or you end up with a larger version of a Mexican hairless

and mind around the fury plumbs or you wont get many pups in the future
