Re: tail docking

i have two working springer spaniels jack's tail has been docked but jess' hasn't. jess is constantlly injuring her tail when she hunts i wish that she had had her tail docked by her breeder! she will be having pups in the near future and we will be legally docking all the pups tails besause we will only be letting them go as working gundogs

Re: tail docking

My two jacks have their long waggy tails and I love them
I was given the choice with Sophie and knew straight away that she wouldn't be docked. I had great difficulty finding Tilly, all the breeders we phoned docked their puppies. We eventually found Tilly, she was 10 weeks old and the lady had struggled to sell them as they had full tails.

I think that dogs should be as nature intended if they were meant to have short tails then they would have been created that way.

That's just the point though, dogs AREN'T as nature intended them, they're as MAN intended them. If they were as nature intended they'd all be wolves. And they weren't created that way simply because man had the option of snipping the tails off. If he hadn't had that option from the start he would have selectively bred for short tails from the beginning.

It's the idiots who dock the tails badly and at the wrong age/by the wrong method that ruin it for everyone who does it responsibly. They're the ones that give the animal rights nutcases fodder.

Have governments nothing better to do than to concern themselves with dogs' tails? What about healthcare, education, wars, economy, poverty...? No, sorry, we'd rather worry about dogs' tails, thanks.
