I'd go along with a pug! I have a pug cross and she gets on great with my mums JR, they're both very energetic and playful.

Re: Hello, I'm new. A toy dog and a jack russell?

Hi welcome to the forum.
I have 2 jack russells and a Yorkie/chihuahua/jack russell Puppy.
So far i haven't encountered any problems with their size difference.
What about another jack russell or a small crossbreed?

Re: Hello, I'm new. A toy dog and a jack russell?

If you are thinking of a cavvi may I suggest you speak to Julie who now owns little Chloe in the breeding section have a read of Chloe's story first though, although I would still urge you to do as much home work on which ever breed you choose.

As long as you don't work your JR most toy breeds would cope quite well with him, I had a pom years ago who was bought as a pup at the same time the lady bouught two patterdale puppies and as they all grew up she started working the terriers and when they got home all hyped up they would take it out on the poor wee pom, so again think wisely about what you do with your terrier before choosing another breed too.

take care

Sarah

Re: Hello, I'm new. A toy dog and a jack russell?

I love my Yorkie - unlike most Yorkies he doesn't bark all the time, he's not fussy and loves people - he's happy with lots of walks or very little walks depending on what's happening at home - and is fine being left alone. A great little doggie - we're so happy to have him, he's so right for our family!

How about just going for a visit to your local rescue center? You could volunteer to do some dog walking, if you have the time. That way you get to have hands on experience of the dogs and if one takes your fancy you'll be able to get to know him before bringing him home? All rescues will be most grateful for your help and would let you bring along your dog to meet any prospective new pal!

Have you considered a staffy cross? I have 3 of the sweethearts and they make fab companions.

My work means that my work pattern is irregular but that is a very good idea. I grew up with a staffy x - she passed away a few years back, she was a lovely dog.
